Would you pay for the privilege of being the first on the block with a Zenfone 2?
If you haven’t heard, the Zenfone 2 landed on Lazada unofficially a few days ago, carrying price tags that were pretty far from the official retail prices that we were expecting. This practice isn’t new – many online sellers who got the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus early last year put a premium on the new device. What is surprising is that ASUS’ line of devices has never been subject to the same pricing schemes for early access before, which goes to show just how hotly anticipated the new smartphone is.
The question of the day is: would you pay a premium to get the Zenfone 2 first from Lazada? We say premium because the prices of the Zenfone 2 SKUs on the site are more expensive than what ASUS will officially offer the new devices for when it officially launches here. While they declined to give us a solid number, ASUS reps told us that the Zenfone 2 would have better pricing when it arrives, so essentially you are forking over a premium to get the device first.
