The Kirin 985 has higher-clocked cores and a dual-core NPU
Aside from the Kirin 820, Huawei is launching a new Kirin processor soon with the Kirin 985. The upcoming processor comes with the same 1/2/4 core configuration with the Kirin 820, with all cores running at higher clock speeds. The Kirin 985 is similar to the Kirin 990 4G processor as it uses a dual-core DaVinci NPU (the Kirin 820 uses a single-core NPU instead). While there are no details about the manufacturing process, the Kirin 985 is presumed to use a 7nm+ EUV process like the Kirin 990 5G.
Ahead of its official launch, the Kirin 985 was spotted in an AI benchmark chart, where it slots below MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000 by around 6000 points.
Currently, the Kirin 985 is rumored to debut with the HONOR 30, though HONOR has yet to confirm it.
