Welcome to Unbox’s “Viral Fridays” where we feature weirder than usual tech and geek related news to cap out the week.
Unbox featured the AirSelfie a couple of weeks ago, during the start of its Kickstarter campaign. The project has been fully funded since then and is now ready for mass production!
For the uninitiated, the AirSelfie is basically a portable drone that houses an HD camera built for the grand purpose of doing selfies, particularly large group shots, aerial and panoramic selfies.
The AirSelfie includes a case cover for certain handsets, like the Samsung S7 Edge, iPhone 6/7 and Google Pixel, and has a built-in power bank within. According to the Kickstarter page, on a full charge, the AirSelfie can fly up to 1 hour.
Flying the AirSelfie is easy using the complementary app for iOS and Android devices. There’s a bunch of flight modes for the user to choose from, ranging from fully manual to assisted flying mode.
Of course, the obligatory social media functionality is built-in into the AirSelfie, allowing users to immediately share their “avant-garde” shots to all their friends on linked social networks.
The AirSelfie project has already completed its crowdfunding phase on Kickstarter, with two weeks left before the deadline. Interested selfie-fanatics can bag a unit by pledging EUR 129 (~Php 10K), with deliveries shipping in March 2017. Global launch, according to the Kickstarter page, will follow shortly after that.
