vivo Officially Unveils iQOO 5G, 120W Super FlashCharge

The 5G-enabled phone will arrive in stores by third quarter of 2019

vivo announced that the iQOO 5G will be their first 5G-enabled phone to be made available to the public at MWC Shanghai 2019. While it did not reveal the phone’s full specs, the iQOO 5G comes with a Snapdragon 855 processor paired with Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem.

Just like the APEX 2019 concept phone, vivo designed a complex 3D layout for the motherboard to accommodate all the necessary 5G components without compromising on battery capacity or the phone’s overall thickness.

Together with the iQOO 5G’s announcement, vivo revealed more details about its record-setting 120W Super FlashCharge. Using a 20V/6A current, vivo’s tech can juice up a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 50% in 5 minutes and 0 to 100% in 13 minutes.

Similar to OnePlus’ approach with WarpCharge, vivo placed the Micro Controller Unit in the Super FlashCharge adapter, offering additional protection to the phone from overheating and voltage issues. To ensure the longevity of the battery, Super FlashCharge comes with a battery management system and a two-channel IC for optimal power management.

The announcement did not specify if Super FlashCharge will make it to the iQOO 5G as of this writing.

With 5G being the main theme of MWC Shanghai 2019, vivo also announced their first 5G-enabled AR glasses. With support for dual-screen display and 6DoF Technology, vivo’s AR Glasses can be used for mobile offices, AR games, 3D high-definition video, facial recognition, and object recognition when paired with 5G tech.
