vivo to Launch V20 Series in the Philippines on October 23

Will we be getting another 5G phone from vivo?

After bringing the X50 series to our shores, vivo is following that up with the V20 series. Recently, vivo Philippines has been posting teasers about the V20 series’ key features and revealed that they will officially launch it on October 23—10 days after the launch in India.

By now, we know that there will be three variants under the V20 series: the V20 Pro, V20, and V20 SE. What are the differences between the three?

  • The V20 Pro is a 5G-ready phone with its Snapdragon 765G processor and is essentially a global version of the China-only S7 endorsed by Blackpink’s Lisa. Making this phone unique is its notch for two cameras: a 44-megapixel main camera with eye autofocus and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.

  • The V20 SE, which initially launched in Malaysia two weeks ago, is a logical successor to last year’s S1 where you get upgrades like a bigger AMOLED display, better Snapdragon 665 processor, higher-resolution main rear camera, and 33w wired charging.

  • The vanilla V20 is essentially a 4G version of the V20 Pro, settling for a waterdrop notch for the 44-megapixel selfie snapper and a Snapdragon 720G processor. Otherwise, the V20 shares the same features from its Pro sibling: triple rear cameras led by a 64-megapixel main snapper, 4000mAh battery with 33w wired charging, and 6.44-inch OLED panel.
  • Are there other things that make the V20 series unique? According to other teasers, the V20 series is said to be the first phone to come with Android 11. That would be definitely interesting, as the majority of phones that support Android 11 are still using beta software.
  • Will we be getting all three models? We can’t say for now, but vivo Philippines’ recent teasers do reveal that we should be getting at least the V20 Pro—making it the second 5G-ready phone from vivo for the Philippine market.
