Vivo X5Pro: Smartphone with 32MP Front Camera and a Retina Scanner

Wait... what?
Wait… what?

Yes, you read the title right

The Vivo X5Pro is a new flagship smartphone coming out of China this May. What sets this particular phone apart though are several new features that will leave people scratching their heads.

Yes, you read the title right. This camera will sport a 32-megapixel front facing camera. We obviously don’t expect this phone to carry a ginormous lens. It will probably be able to deliver the 32MP resolution images using software (photo optimization and stitching). This tech is probably the same one being used by Oppo 7 Find which boasted of having the capabilities to deliver 50-megapixel resolution shots.

But wait, there’s more! Like what we said earlier, this phone will also feature Retina Eye Scanning. It’s just like what you saw in the movies wherein you can actually unlock your phone by letting the camera verify the vein patterns on your eye. 😮

Ano daw...
Ano daw…

We obviously don’t know how this works. The last time a phone tried to use the front camera as the means to unlock a device, it failed miserably (Google’s Face Unlock). We doubt this will be as smooth as we hope it would be.

In terms of the usual specifications we expect the Vivo5xPro to have a Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 6.0-inch display (2.5D glass design), and Vivo’s Funtouch UI skinned on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Rumor has it that the phone will have a 3,500mAh battery.

Official announcement should be on May 7 so watch this space for more updates about this crazy device.
