What Should Be The Minimum Specs For Smartphones This 2016?

dream smartphone specs

Let us know the specs of your dream device!

We’re now in the second month of 2016, and we’ve been floored at the specs of the devices being released by both local and international brands. But while some brands sell awesome devices with awesome specs, there’s still a couple of companies that seem like they don’t have a clue what the minumum specs of a device being sold in 2016 should be.

So we leave this task to you, our dear readers: what should be the minimum specs of a smartphone be in 2016, according to its price range? What should be the minimum specs of a phone that’s under 3K? 5K? 10K? 15K? 20K?

Personally, we think that there shouldn’t be a smartphone that’s sold near the 3K mark that only has 512MB of RAM. We’re also pretty sure that any phone that goes past the 5K mark should already have 2GB of RAM, if not 3GB.

  2. I will go for minimum. A 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM with quad core processor and qHD (960×540) display must be the minimum at under 3k price. A 512Mb RAM nowadays is a nightmare. Siguro pag 512Mb RAM or below, price must not exceed P1,500. Just my opinion.

  3. Under 3K should have AT LEAST 1.2GHz quad-core, 1GB RAM, 5MP rear, 2MP front camera, Dual Sim and 2,000mAh battery. These kind of smartphones really hit big in the Philippines, especially for those people who just want a really phone.

  9. Cherry Mobile One is the minimum for me, but one thing I would like to change would be the screen reso. I would like to see qHD for devices of same price. Octa cores are unnecessary, redundant if I may say, what’s important is optimisation. Quad core is more than enough for a phone, as seen with Qualcomm’s move to buck the octa core trend and go back to quad core with the Snapdragon 820 processor

  10. It would also be a nice touch if companies would release software updates for phones, which is why I made CM One as a personal choice. Well, choices are subjective, but hey,we should consider how much power we really use on a smartphone and and if high specs are really necessary.

  13. dreaming the next cherry mobile flare 5 would have:

  14. SD820 5.5″ 5000mah 5mm thick beast for P799. SIM locked. You spec-heads are hilarious. And so is this hack article. John, I know you are going to censor this comment but I hope you get the message. Write about something real and noteworthy. This kind of garbage just gets the natives restless.

    1. Like I said in our Facebook page when I posted this there, local and international companies read our blog regularly. This article is a perfect place for readers to give their two cents to the devices that they expect to be released in the local market. And if articles like this turns you off so much that you’re calling me a hack, there are plenty of other blogs that you can visit and post your very helpful and critical comments to.

      1. Hack article John. Not hack writer. But interesting you rounded it off in that direction. If I thought you were a hack writer, I’d simply skip your blog. I keep coming here because you were good at the start and part of the people. I respected that. But it’s getting more and more like a business and your content shows it. Hey, just MHO. I hope the criticism is taken with an open mind and that you take away something from it regardless if it’s hard on the ears. If you think in 2016 it’s still about specs, then I would have to say you’re not the tech leader I thought you were.

Hey… I think I just gave you the topic of your next article. Hope you come back down to the earth John. I miss your good stuff. And hoping you don’t censor this reply.

        1. “do not fix something that ain’t broke”

bro, pakatotoo tayo ha, ano pinupunto mo? ano pinaglalaban mo? are you just playing smart? well if you are, we will rest our case then. cge, ikaw na magaling, ikaw na matalino.

yo John, perhaps someone would like to take over, mukang bihasa eh at sinalo lahat ng kabibuhan sa mundo.

whoever you are Anony Mouse, for whatever purpose your comment may serve OK, hands down you indeed sounded so smart. happy then? contented? oh, why not go visit Yugatech, Pinoyscreencast, Gizguide etc and bombard them with your god-like thinking as well?! para pangalandakan mo kabibuhan mo at mapakinabangan naman
