Will the New Nokia Phones be Affordable?

TL;DR — Rumors Say They Will Be

We’ve been hearing rumblings that Finnish phone brand, Nokia, would be making a comeback and, much to the delight of Titos and Titas of Manila whose first phone may have been the tank-like 5110, the second coming of Nokia was confirmed a few weeks ago. The brand will be at next year’s Mobile World Congress and the phone they’ve been working on, the Nokia D1C, has had its specs leaked for its two variants.
The Nokia D1C will have Full HD 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch variants with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 at its core. The smaller version will have 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel main shooter, while the 5.5-inch version will get 3GB of RAM and a 16-megapixel rear camera. The new crop of Nokia smartphones will also be running on Android 7.0 out of the box. Given the leaked specs we’re seeing, we shouldn’t expect to see an enormous price tag for these phones and their rumored pricing had us giving it a nod of approval.

According to our source, the Nokia D1C could possibly be priced as low as $150 (Php 7473) with the bigger of the two getting a $200 (PHP 9965), which sounds about right for similarly spec’d phones out in the market. Mobile World Congress is still a few months away, so we’re going to have to wait and see how accurate these rumors are.
