Sorry, Windows fateful

If you’ve been itching to try out Windows 10 on your older Windows Phone 8.1 equipped Lumia devices, we have bad news for you: Microsoft has decided to delay the update from December this year to early 2016, dashing the hopes of many Lumia fans that are dying to find out if Continuum works as advertised or not.

Here’s the official word from Microsoft, as told to ZDNET:

“This November we introduced Windows 10 to phones including brand new features such as Continuum and Universal Windows Apps with the introduction of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones.”

Even sketchier is the upgrade plans for non-Lumia handsets, which includes the likes of Cherry Mobile’s Alpha series of phones. It looks like you’re stuck with the Lumia 950 and 950XL if you want to experience the latest version of Windows on smartphones.
