Great News for Fans of Wireless Charging
The problem with Wireless Charging has always been SPEED. While it was so convenient to just set your phone down on a Qi Wireless Charging station, it usually took twice as long compared to just plugging it via your usual micro USB cable. That’s about to change very soon with major announcements from the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
There’s a new Qi Charging Specification which will allow wireless chargers to deliver 15 watts of power to devices. This is almost the same level as wired fast charging (30 minutes for 55%-65%). That’s the same quick charging feature that the latest flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S6, Google Nexus 6, and the ASUS Zenfone 2 have been boasting about.
Unfortunately your current Wireless Charging station won’t have that upgrade for very obvious reasons. When this new spec comes out you’ll have to buy the upgraded Wireless Charging stations so that you can get the faster charging experience.
Looking forward to see this roll out worldwide within the year!
