Xiaomi Announces Mi Note

This is Xiaomi’s new flagship!

Xiaomi has officially announced its latest flagship, the Mi Note 2 in an event in Beijing today. The Mi Note is the company’s slimmest smartphone to date, possesing a body that’s only 6.95mm thin. The body of the smartphone uses a mix of plastic and metal, and uses a 5.7-inch, 2.5D curved display. While the phone is Xiaomi’s thinnest yet, the Mi Note uses a 3000mAh battery, as well as a camera module that’s flush with the body, unlike the one in the iPhone 6 Plus.

The 5.7-inch display is a full HD and uses a panel from JDI. It also has an NTSC color gamut of 95%, which is better than the iPhone 6. Xiaomi has also made a e-book mode on the Mi Note that adjusts the lighting of the display to help you read your e-books better. It also has adaptive dynamic contrast technology.

The Mi Note uses a Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor with f/2.0 aperture, as well as optical image stabilization (OIS) for low light. The front camera of the Mi Note is an UltraPixel deal, possessing only 4-megapixels but having a large, 2-micron pixel size. The rear camera also uses a Philips 2-tone flash, which results in more natural colors in photos.

Xiaomi’s Mi Note is also an audio powerhouse, as it has an Hi-Fi Audio System with an ESS ES9018K2M audio decoder and 24-bit/192KHz lossless playback support. As such, the Mi Note has APE, FLAC, DSD and WAV lossless format support as well, not just MP3.

As far as hardware goes, the Mi Note uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor running at 2.5GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, has 3GB of RAM and is capable of dual SIM and dual LTE.

The Mi Note is predicted to retail for RMB 2299, or Php 16529  for the 16GB model and RMB 2799 or Php 20130 if it arrives in the PH.
