Xiaomi Deletes Poll That Saw Users Prefer Stock Android Over MIUI 9

Well, that doesn’t seem right

While Xiaomi makes excellent phones that have really good price points, not everyone is a fan of their sometimes bloated MIUI overlay. For many pure Android is still the best option which is probably why their recently released Android One device, the Mi A1 sold like hotcakes.

And that customer preference really showed when Xiaomi ran a poll on Twitter, asking people if they preferred MIUI 9 or Android One. After 14,769 votes, it looked like Android One was the clear winner, which prompted Xiaomi to delete the poll from Twitter and pretend it never existed.

While we understand why Xiaomi would delete a poll where users overwhelmingly choose stock Android (57% vs. 43% voted in favor of it) against their homegrown UI, it doesn’t really look good for the company to remove a poll that they didn’t win. A better course of action would be to respond to the poll and ask follow-up questions why users prefer stock Android, and incorporate user suggestions in the next build of MIUI.
