Garnering a better score than the Mi MIX 2S
Xiaomi recently unveiled the Mi 8 earlier, and part of the presentation includes the brand boasting of the Mi 8’s score in DxOMark. Its overall score brings the Mi 8 at par with the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus: On a closer look, the Mi 8 outperforms the Galaxy S9+ with photography performance, while the Galaxy S9+ wins over the Mi 8 in videography performance.
Going to the scores of the Mi 8, Xiaomi’s newest flagship scored 105 for its photography performance, citing improvements over the Mi MIX 2S. Its high photo score is credited with its accurate exposure and extended dynamic range in most lighting conditions, along with pleasingly rich and vivid color rendering with neutral white balance in bright light. Also, the Mi 8’s autofocus is fast and accurate, producing pleasing bokeh with smooth transitions.
As for videography performance, the Mi 8 scored 88, with its fast, accurate, and smooth autofocus with good subject tracking, attractive color rendering, and a wide dynamic range as its key strengths.
