After teasing that Xiaomi will be coming up with a phone sporting Samsung’s 108-megapixel ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor, new findings by the folks over at XDA Developers reveal that Xiaomi is planning not just one, but FOUR smartphones with 108-megapixel cameras.
Digging through the code of MIUI’s Gallery app, they discovered four codenames: Tucana, Draco, Umi, and Cmi. XDA Developers adds that the line of code for these four smartphones will support viewing 108-megapixel photos in full resolution. Since the ISOCELL HMX uses pixel-binning, the sensor outputs 27-megapixel photos—you will need to shoot in manual mode to take advantage of the full 108-megapixel resolution.
Interestingly, XDA Developers notes that none of the four models is rumored to be the Mi MIX 4—this may either mean the Mi MIX 4 will not have a 108-megapixel camera, or the support for 108-megapixel photos is made for a future build of MIUI.
