Xiaomi’s Mi A1 With Android One Is A Poor Man’s Nexus

Priced at just Php 12K

While Goolge’s Android One program hasn’t taken off like the search giant intended, there’s a lot to like about it. Unfortunately it’s usually used on low-end phones with unimpressive specs, that is, until Xiaomi’s Mi A1.

Xiaomi Mi A1 specs

  • Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor
  • Adreno 506 GPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 5.5-inch full HD display, 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass, 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 64GB storage, expandable via microSD
  • 12-megapixel wide-angle primary camera, 12-megapixel telephoto (2x zoom) secondary camera, LED flash
  • 5-megapixel front camera
  • Dual-SIM
  • 3G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, Fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C, IR blaster
  • Android 7.1.2 Nougat (Android 8.0 Oreo within 2017)
  • 3,080mAh battery
  • Black, Gold, Rose Gold

The new phone is every Android One owner’s dream as it comes with fairly powerful hardware unburdened by Xiaomi’s MIUI interface. The phone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage – more than enough for normal use. Other features include twin rear cameras (12-megapixel wide angle plus a 12-megapixel secondary lens with 2x zoom) USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner, IR blaster and pure Android 7.1.2 Nougat with an option to upgrade to Android Oreo within the year, then you can see why the Mi A1 can be considered a budget alternative to the expensive (and defunct) Nexus smartphones that Google replaced with the Pixel line.

The best part? It retails for only Rs. 14,999, which is around 12K converted. It probably won’t be more than that when it’s (un)officially taken here by resellers.
