Xiaomi’s New CC Sub-Brand is for the “Cool and Chic”

Aimed towards millennials

Xiaomi hinted at an announcement today, and CEO Lei Jun introduced the CC series. Instead of announcing new phones as initially speculated, Jun explained the concept behind the CC branding. Developed by a “cool and chic” team comprising of 90s millennials, CC stands for “Colorful and Creative”, and will offer trendy smartphones in partnership with Meitu.

One of the first phones that will be launched under the CC sub-brand is the so-called “Little Fairy”—a selfie-centric flagship phone with a flip-up camera similar to the ZenFone 6 and a gradient white and pink color that caters more to female users.

The new phone will follow a “Xiaomi x Meitu AI Aesthetics Lab” concept, where they combine Xiaomi’s camera hardware and Meitu’s beauty technology. In addition, the CC9 moniker refers to Xiaomi’s 9th anniversary as a company.

Jun has not revealed the official launch date for the CC9 for now, so we are back to guessing as to when Xiaomi will officially launch this new brand of smartphones.
