40W wireless charging!
While wireless charging is great, the tech has never been able to achieve the same blistering charging speeds as wired solutions – until now, that is. Xiaomi’s Vice President Chang Cheng has debuted the company’s new 40W wireless charging tech that’s capable of charging a phone with a 4000mAh battery to 50% in under 20 minutes.
The tech was demonstrated in a short video shared in Weibo, and the tech looks promising and attainable. The Mi 10 Pro offers 30W wireless charging, which is only a few watts short of the 40W shown in the video. Xiaomi’s own Mi Note 10 Pro tops out at 50W for wired charging, which isn’t too far off from the fast-charing tech shared by Xiaomi in this video.
As for when we’ll see this tech on actual smartphones we’re not sure yet, but considering the cut-throat competition this year we’d wager it’d be sooner rather than later.
