Xiaomi’s Redmi Pro 2 Leaked: A Snapdragon 660 Smartphone?

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 chipset hasn’t been officially announced yet, and already, we’re seeing leaked phone specs with the upcoming processor. Semi-reliable Weibo leakster @KJuma is at it again, this time with a supposed leaked image of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 packing the said CPU.

The first Xiaomi Redmi Pro was a dual-camera handset that sported a MediaTek Helio X20/25 processor as well as a China-made OLED display. Its successor, according to the leak report, the Redmi Pro 2 is set to drop the dual snappers in favor of a singular, more powerful Sony IMX 362 sensor. The Sony camera is 1/2.55” sensor with large 1.4µm pixels and Dual Pixel autofocus, like in the Samsung Galaxy S7.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 (Rumored Specs)

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor
  • 4GB/6GB RAM
  • 64GB/128GB internal storage
  • 12-megapixel rear camera, Sony IMX 362 sensor, Dual Pixel autofocus
  • 4500mAh battery

Obviously, the spec sheet needs more details, and for that, we’ll have to wait again for leak and reveal posts from the usual suspects.

Early in November 2016, the rumor mill was rife with speculation that the Snapdragon 660 was due for a Q2 2017 announcement. If that’s true, then the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2’s launch is still a ways off, most likely in the later half of the year.
