Xiaomi’s action camera goes 4K

Xiaomi’s at it again – right after announcing their Mi Max phablet, the company has released yet another product in the market – this time it’s a new version of their budget Yi Action Camera. The Yi Action Camera 2 is the latest addition to their action camera lineup that shoots – you guessed it – 4K video.

The new camera sports a Sony IMX377 sensor, the same sensor used in both the Nexus 5X and the 6P. That’s paired with an Ambarella A9SE95 chipset, a 155-degree FOV lens and an F/2.8 aperture. Aside from capturing 4K video, the Yi Action Camera 2 can also capture video at 240 frames per second at 720p and 120 frames per second at 1080p. The new model isn’t as barebones as the first entry in Xiaomi’s action camera lineup, and sports a 2.19-inch touchscreen display that allows for easier navigation and recording if you’re not up to using the companion app on your phone. The 1,400mAh of juice on the new model is rated to give around 2 hours of continous recording.

Just like the first Yi action camera, the Yi Action Camera 2 is a China-only offering. Folks in Xiaomi’s home country can pick one up for around $200 (Php 9.3K).
