Exposing a vulnerability on Instagram, Jani — a 10-year old boy from Finland — has just been awarded $10,000 by Facebook as part of their Bug Bounty Program. The exploit allowed Jani to delete any comment he wished and was confirmed when he deleted a company made comment on a test account. It was revealed that the exploit used vulnerabilities in the programming that failed to check if it was indeed the original poster wanting to delete the comment or not.

How did Jani manage to find the exploit? Well, he credits the YouTube videos that helped him develop his fascination that ultimately led him to find the bug in the image sharing platform. As for the prize money, Jani shares that he will be buying a new bike and sporting equipment.

Got a knack for finding flaws in software? Maybe you’ll receive the next bounty from Facebook.
