Alibaba CEO is Coming to the Land of Balut and Chickenjoy

Last October 16 the Facebook Page of De La Salle University posted a teaser photo of a guest lecturer that’s coming over to the Philippines. In the post they described him as a “former english teacher”, “Tai Chi practitioner”, and a “Global Business Icon”. You could already tell that they were referring to the CEO and founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba, Jack Ma. Yes, the same cool dude who did a Michael Jackson dance routine during their company event.

We’ve confirmed from several sources that this is indeed Mr. Jack Ma and that the event will take place THIS WEEK. There are very limited slots as this truly is a once-in-a-lifetime lecture that entrepreneurs, media, and professionals should aspire to attend.

What is the interest of Jack Ma and Alibaba in the Philippines? They bought controlling stake of LAZADA for over $1B. They also invested through their affiliate company, Ant Financial, in a local payments company. They’re definitely eyeing the potential of e-commerce in the country and it will be interesting to hear from Mr. Jack Ma himself when he takes the stage in De La Salle University this week.

We’ll report back as that happens come his lecture. Till then stay glued to this space!
