Four Local Apps for Monitoring COVID-19 Cases in the Philippines

More resources to receive legitimate information about the COVID-19 pandemic

The country is still in the middle of battling the COVID-19 pandemic. While there’s no definite timeline as to when this will end, there are many ways we can get ourselves informed on how we can combat the pandemic while on self quarantine. These four apps are all made by Filipinos, and have respective roles in helping out spread awareness about COVID-19. Check them out below:

ENDCoV

Developed by a team of Master of Science in Innovation and Business students from the Asian Institute of Management, ENDCoV helps users assess themselves if they are possible PUIs. The assessment form follows the triage algorithm approved by the DOH and is consistent with the WHO’s definition of COVID-19. After answering the survey, the app will assess your next steps, which can range from self-quarantine or getting tested for COVID-19.

In addition, the app also lets people keep information about people they recently came in contact with, along with places they recently visited—all of which are privately stored within the app.

WeTrace

Developed by an IT expert from Cebu, WeTrace uses geolocation for contact tracing and to generate patient mapping. It also uses mobile data in order to be activated and assigns a unique QR code to protect the user’s data. From there, the app traces the places the user visited, along with nearby WeTrace users. Should someone is found to be infected, WeTrace sends a notification to those who were in contact with the infected user to either seek immediate medical attention or undergo self-quarantine.

CoVID Watch PH

Developed by DICT, DSWD, and PhilHealth, COVID Watch PH  is a registration and contact tracing app available to the public to aid in the monitoring of COVID-19 cases in the country. It collects real-time data, and has a triage assessment survey, along with a request for financial assistance for COVID patients.

RC143

An official app of the Philippine Red Cross, RC143 uses artificial intelligence as well as the wireless, geo-location and sensory capabilities of users’ smartphones to track one’s Exposure Risk Meter, or levels of exposure to the virus. In addition, RC143 notifies users if they enter a high-risk zone, where they can contact the Philippine Red Cross for medical assistance in the event of a possible infection.
