One of the biggest draws for Netflix was their Marvel TV content like Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders. Come 2019 though it looks like that won’t be the case anymore. Disney, which owns the rights to Marvel content, just announced that they will end their licensing agreement with Netflix and they will launch their own direct-to-consumer video streaming app in 2019.
New and Original Disney Content Will Be Featured on the App
The new App will be released in 2019 and it will be the home to future big title movies from Disney such as Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4. You can add to that Marvel and Pixar movies that will come out 2019 onwards and all the content of Disney in their vault which they’ve accumulated through the years.
Apart from the classics and new movies, Disney also said that they will be producing original movies, TV shows, and short-form content for the new service. Looks like they learned from the Netflix Exclusives model which is primarily the reason why Netflix is so successful amidst all the video streaming copycat applications out there.

2019. Mark your calendars folks.
PS: To clarify, you can still enjoy Disney content on Netflix. The deal ends on 2019. We also don’t know if Netflix will still invest in Marvel/Disney related exclusives afterwards now that Disney has their own direct-to-consumer play.
