Grandmaster Ip Man
Before we move on to the feature on this amazing 1/6th scale collectible figure, we’d like to introduce (or re-introduce) Donnie Yen as IP Man. Ip Man is the legendary master of Bruce Lee. He taught Wing Chun which Bruce Lee used as a base for his Jeet Kune Do. Donnie Yen is a famous martial arts practitioner and actor who portrayed IP Man in two movies. The short clip below is one of the most popular fight scenes in the first movie where IP Man trashed 10 Japanese black belt karate martial artists.
You just have to watch this. It reeks of epic awesomeness. If you’ve already seen the movie, watch it again, hehe.

Stunning Detail and Likeness
Donnie Yen’s Ip Man by Enterbay comes in one of the best looking boxes we’ve ever seen. Heck they should win an award for this one, lol. We have the photo of Donnie Yen as Ip Man poised to unleash hell on the wooden practice doll at the front. The rest of the box is mostly black save for the embossed Chinese characters at the side. When you open the box you’ll find three compartments, one for the Ip Man action figure (covered with foam), different hand pegs and an extra traditional white Chinese shirt, the wooden practice doll, a metallic base for the wooden dummy, and a chicken feather duster which Ip Man used as a weapon in the movie.
As a fan of the movie, we’re thrilled at their selection of accessories. The white Kungfu shirt is what Ip Man used when he fought Master Hong in the second movie at the round table. The wooden practice dummy is iconic for Wing Chun and Ip Man (Wing Chun martial artists still use it), and the feather duster was the most memorable weapon in the first movie when he fought against a rogue leader using a sword. The different hand pegs are also amazing because they are actually molded to the traditional hand gestures of Wing Chun. In fact you can pretty much pose Ip Man in anyway you see him fighting in the movies!
The figure itself has a stunning likeness to Donnie Yen’s portrayal of Ip Man. The head sculpt is dead-on Donnie Yen. We would have liked it though if Enterbay threw in an additional head with a different face, hehe. As you can see, the figure wears the iconic black Chinese suit together with the black shoes and long white socks. You can actually remove the suit and replace it with the white Kungfu shirt.
As expected, the figure is very posable thanks to the multiple articulation points. Posing him with the wooden dummy is even easier thanks to the magnets at the bottom of the shoe of the figure which holds Ip Man in place when he’s standing on top of the metal floor base for the wooden dummy.
We’re happy to add Donnie Yen’s Ip Man to our growing 1/6th scale collection. This definitely deserves a spot in our toy cabinet and seeing the fig will always remind us of Ip Man’s epic awesomeness as shown in the two movies. Two thumbs up to Enterbay for this fig!
To those who want to buy, there are a few shops in Greenhills (Shoppesville 3rd floor) that sell it. Usual price is anywhere from Php15,000-Php16,000. You can probably haggle it down to Php14,000 though. We did see that it was selling for a lot less in Singapore and Hong Kong. It was priced at Php10,000-Php11,000 there so you might wanna get it outside the Philippines if you have the chance.
