Facebook has rolled out the option to read your SMS messages in Facebook Messenger. Instead of using two seperate messaging apps like the default one in your Android device, forcing you to move away from the app, the new feature allows you to handle both Messenger and SMS messages in one space, saving you time.
To differentiate between the two sources of messages, messages sent via SMS will appear purple while normal, Facebook messages will appear blue. SMS integration also means that you’ll be able to send rich content to another person that’s using the app via SMS, which includes stickers, emojis, GIFs and more.
The new feature isn’t turned on by default – you’ll have to go to the settings menu in Facebook messenger, select SMS and choose the option Default SMS App.
