To feature curated news content based on user’s preferences
As part of its efforts to expand what it can offer to its users, Facebook is soft launching Facebook News in the US. To appear on a dedicated tab, Facebook News aims to deliver important news content based on the interests of its users.
Aside from personalized feeds, key features of Facebook News include a Today’s Stories feed for the most important news of the day, Topic Sections for news stories on specific interests, support for linking paid news subscriptions to their Facebook accounts, and the ability to hide articles, stories, and publishers users do not want to see.
For the initial rollout, Facebook News will deliver original content from local publishers in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Philadelphia, Houston, Washington DC, Miami, Atlanta and Boston.
