Facebook to Roll Out Unsend Message Feature in Next Messenger Update

iOS users will get it first

After it was previewed last month, Facebook is officially bringing the unsend message feature to as part of a future update for Messenger. This was spotted in the “What’s New” section of Messenger for iOS. Carrying version 191.0, Messenger will let you “remove a message from a chat thread after it’s been sent”, though you have only 10 minutes in undoing any wrong send.

The feature is similar in principle with GMail’s unsend feature, where you can select a Send cancellation period of 5, 10, 20, or 30 seconds to save yourself from that drunk email. They are different in the sense that GMail’s approach holds the email in the queue based on the time interval chosen, while Messenger’s approach will send the message, giving the recipient a window to read your message before you delete it.
