A step in the right direction?
Instagram has been doing serious work: after doing a purge on fake likes, follows, and comments, the social media platform is working on revising the layout of its user profile page. In their press statement, they said that they are experimenting with different layouts to “make profiles easier and cleaner to use.”
While there are no changes to the grid layout, the most notable design change is that follower counts have been de-emphasized by using a smaller font. Instead, the proposed layout gives emphasis to the user’s profile, just like what Twitter is working on with its iOS app. The new layout aims to let users have meaningful engagements with its followers instead of focusing on their follower count.
