Lazada Customers Will Finally Have Access To Taobao’s Products

No more language barrier stopping you

In China, Taobao is a giant e-commerce site, and has become a giant in the online sales world, having a bigger combined gross merchandise volume (GMV) than eBay and Amazon put together. Despite that, its bounty of goods has been largely limited to Chinese speakers in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan thanks to language barriers, but that will soon end. Lazada has announced that it would be soon offering products from the Alibaba-owned Taobao marketplace to customers in the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand, leveraging on Alibaba’s purchase of Lazada’s controlling stake from Rocket Internet last year for $1 billion.

Online shoppers from the Philippines will now have access to the Taobao Collection that’s fairly localized to the demographic, giving shoppers a far wider range of goods to buy without the worries and hassle of customs, since Lazada handles everything in house and delivers the goods from overseas direct to your door.

The Taobao collection are composed of products from home, beauty and travel, alongside affordable electronics.
