Giving LRT-1 riders all the info they need in one app
To improve the overall commute experience of its LRT-1 riders, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) launched the ikotMNL app. Available for both Android and iOS, the app serves as a one-stop-shop platform for LRT-1 commuters, featuring real-time train arrivals, weather information, and crowd monitoring.
The app also gives details on fare prices and suggested destinations whether you want to go on a food trip, explore Manila, or go shopping.
The app also has news and announcements, along with a chat box for customer assistance. Making ikotMNL unique is that it combines both railway and tourism apps. Featuring detailed directions on tourist spots near LRT-1 stations, ikotMNL also aims to promote local tourism in the local’s capital.
“We constantly look for modern ways to change the way we move people, and this ikotMNL app is an innovative tool to delight our passengers with a comfortable, safe, and convenient experience when riding the LRT-1,” LRMC President and CEO Juan Alfonso said.
Future upgrades to the app include a partnership with Beep card and QR codes for fares and tie-ups with merchants.
