Microsoft’s Latest Edge Browser is Based on Chromium

It is available for both Windows and MacOS

Microsoft has made the latest version of its Edge web browser available for download for both Windows and MacOS users. Called Microsoft Edge 79 (stable build), this is the first version of Edge that is based on the Chromium open-source project, giving it similarities to Google Chrome. Since it is based on Chromium, Microsoft hopes to address fragmentation issues with developers and have better compatibility across all devices.

Like Chrome, Edge syncs your web history, passwords, settings and more across devices that have Edge browser—Android and iOS included. If you are one of those who needs Internet Explorer for some reason, Edge has an Internet Explorer mode built into the system.

Those running Windows 10 will receive the latest version of Edge as an update, while MacOS users can try and download it here. If you still run Windows 7, you can still download the latest version of Edge despite Microsoft ending support for it.
