Mobius Final Fantasy to Launch on August 3 for iOS and Android

Final Fantasy fans are in for a treat this early August, as Square Enix launches its Western version of Mobius Final Fantasy for iOS and Android devices on August 3. The episodic, free-to-play game is developed by veteran Final Fantasy staff, including producer Yoshinori Kitase and writer Kazushige Nojima, both known for their work on the Playstation classic Final Fantasy VII and upcoming next-gen title Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Mobius Final Fantasy was released on the Japanese app stores more than a year ago and has achieved mainstream success with the local mobile gamers. Billed as “a mobile game with the quality of a console title”, Mobius Final Fantasy is a turn-based RPG with elements from previous franchise games such as leveling, exploration, and job-based abilities. It will also feature characters from the other Final Fantasy titles such as Cloud Strife (FFVII), Squall Leonhart (FFVIII) and Lightning (FFXIII).

Mobius Final Fantasy follows the story of Wol, a man who awakens in an unfamiliar land without memories of his identity and his past. With the realm under assault by the forces of “Chaos”, Wol and his companions must unravel the mysteries behind the legendary “Warrior of Light” and bring hope to the world of Palamecia.

Currently, Square Enix has a pre-registration event, which will reward players with Final Fantasy X themed game goodies such as Tidus’s Brotherhood sword and Yuna’s character card. Don’t forget to sign-up if you’re interested in playing the game.
