NEDA Plotted Out the Annual GDP into Musical Notes and Made a Song

Data + Creativity + Music = Win

The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) of the Philippines just pulled off the most creative way to share the Economic growth story of the country. They plotted the annual GDP figures as musical notes and they built an entire song called “Tunog ng Progresso”.

They noticed that the annual GDP figures were consistent between 1%-8%. It just so happens that the musical scale (do, re, mi, fa, so, la, to, do) was also 8. They assigned the notes, played with it a bit, and they laid down the track for what would be one heck of a song.

That’s just sick creativity there. Mad props to NEDA and we hope that this gets the attention it deserves.

Tunog ng Progreso is NEDA’s anthem for the Philippines’ economic progress. It takes inspiration from the country’s economic performance and is performed by Thyro. Through the song, people will be able to hear the amount of progress we have achieved in recent years.

This is a project of NEDA, in collaboration with Dentsu Philippines, Inc., to promote the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022, which is anchored on the President’s 0-10 Point Socioeconomic Agenda and geared towards the country’s long-term vision of a matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay para sa lahat.

If you guys like the song, you can download it from NEDA’s website.
