Netflix has a Surprise for all Pokemon Fans Out There

Just in time for this year’s Pokemon Day

Following Netflix’s announcement that it will stream select films from Studio Ghibli, the streaming platform followed it up with Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution coming to Netflix next month. This is the first time the movie will be shown outside of Japan and Korea.

A CGI remake of the original Pokemon: The First Movie from 1999, Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution reintroduces the original movie with brand new artwork. “Netflix is the ideal platform to help us execute a global simultaneous launch of an animated Pokémon movie on Pokémon Day, a special moment dedicated to celebrating the worldwide Pokémon fan community,” The Pokémon Company International Senior Vice President for International Business Emily Arons said.

Check out the official trailer below:

Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution will be streaming on February 27—which is Pokemon Day, by the way.
