Sony’s PS4 Slim Hits Stores On September With $300 Price Tag

Aside from the new powerhouse PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony has also announced the PS4 Slim today. The new model is…well, slimmer than a standard PS4, shedding quite a few millimeters compared to the full-sized version. You lose the optical out port (who really uses that anyway) but aside from that, the newer, sleeker console is essentially the same as its bigger brother.

There’s a few changes in the overall design of the console aside from its slimmer size – the new version has a┬áthe light bar on top and generally makes the entire package look sleeker. There isn’t a whole lot of changes but to be honest the PS4 was a pretty awesome piece of hardware to begin with so that’s not really a big issue. Anyway, the newer, slimmer model will sport a more palatable $299 price tag when it ships on September 15.
