StarCraft And Broodwar Expansion Are Now Free

Power overwhelming, indeed

If you’re a millennial and somehow haven’t played Blizzard’s now classic StarCraft and its expansion, Brood War, now’s the time to get it. Blizzard has announced that both games are now free to play (legally), almost two decades after it was launched for the PC.

Previously the games were still sold for $10-15, but today you can download the RTS classic that launched the e-sport phenomenon in Korea and other countries for free, from here. Aside from making the game free, Blizzard has also taken the opportunity to fix a few things in the game in the latest patch notes, which include improved compatibility with Windows 7, 8.1, and 10. You can read the full patch notes below.

The move comes after Blizzard announced that they are re-mastering the game for modern audiences, which would include better graphics and compatibility with modern systems. If you haven’t played the iconic game before (or just want to introduce it to your kid), you can download it for free, here.
