The upcoming The International 10 (TI10) Tournament is one of the most-awaited events in the eSports industry, pitting the best of the best DoTA 2 players for a massive prize pool. Organizer and sponsor Valve is serious with the prize pool part: as of this writing, the current prize pool is at $27,297,119—or roughly over Php 1.3 Billion. Yes, that’s the prize pool for a professional eSports tournament—and it is still increasing.
As pointed out by eSports Observer, TI10 experienced the biggest prize pool increase on day 30, where it jumped from $16 million to $20 million. At its current pace, TI10 is expected to outdo the total prize pool of TI 2019, which was a little over $34 million.
The TI10 Battle Pass—an in-game purchase where 25% of each purchase goes to the TI10 prize pool—will close on September 19. The TI10 tournament will be held in 2021, though Valve has yet revealed the exact date and location.
