Spotify and Apple Music have a new rival
YouTube is expanding its platform beyond videos with the silent launch of YouTube Music in the Philippines. Acting as a separate platform, YouTube Music is a portal where you can listen to songs and watch music videos from your favorite artists. Similar to Spotify and Apple Music, YouTube Music has both a web client and an app for both Android and iOS devices.
If you do not want any ads while watching YouTube videos or listening to tunes over at YouTube Music, the streaming platform is offering a Premium subscription. Aside from ad-free music and videos, YouTube Premium lets you play videos while using other apps or while the screen is locked, download videos for your convenience, and enjoy offline listening with YouTube Music.
The monthly subscription is Php 159, which is a premium over what Spotify and Apple Music charges to its users. However, YouTube Premium gives you more freedom with videos, letting you watch your favorite vlogs while multitasking with other apps.
