Facebook Starts Testing New “Reactions” Emoji To Work Beside Like Button

Facebook Launches Reactions

Not a dislike button, but something better

We’ve always heard the rumor that Facebook was working on rolling out a dislike button, but it seems that the company was looking for something more than just that. Mark Zuckerburg has officially taken the wraps off “Reactions” six emphatic emojis that will sit beside the like button allowing users to quickly give their emotional reaction to a certain post instead of just liking it.

Here’s what Zuck had to say about it:

Reactions gives you new ways to express love, awe, humor and sadness. It’s not a dislike button, but it does give you the power to easily express sorrow and empathy — in addition to delight and warmth. You’ll be able to express these reactions by long pressing or hovering over the Like button.

We’re starting to test Reactions in Ireland and Spain and will learn from this before we bring the experience to everyone. We hope you like this – or can better express how you’re feeling!

Facebook says that they are rolling it out first in Spain and Ireland to test it and tweak it before widespread use. You can check out a demo of it in this video.
