Sulit.com.ph is now OLX Philippines!

If you’ve gone to online selling supersite Sulit.com.ph today, you may have noticed that the website has a new branding, and a new url. RJ David, the CEO and one of the founders of Sulit.com.ph detailed the reasons for the change in a blog post on olx.ph.

“The objective of changing our name to OLX is to get the attention of every Filipino that now’s the time to make some changes of their own and join the millions of people around the globe like in India, Brazil, and Portugal, who have already used OLX to sell their things. The name change to OLX aims to inspire Filipinos to re-think what they know about Sulit, and to re-think what they have to sell online. The name OLX originally came as an abbreviation of the phrase ‘online exchange’,” he said.

With the name change, Sulit has now become the Philippine arm of the biggest online exchange in the world.

“As we now officially become OLX Philippines and leverage on OLX’s global standards and best practices, this brand change is but a part of our mission to continue providing the Filipinos with a superior platform for buying and selling online,” he adds. Being a global network of online classifieds, OLX has a lot of experience in several emerging countries which include Brazil and India. This expertise has helped RJ and his team to increase their marketshare to around 67% this year, though RJ has said that they’re won’t be satisfied until they’re the dominant force in the classifieds market.

Aside from the name change, very little else is going to change, according to RJ. The core team that has taken Sulit.com.ph to stratospheric heights will continue to manage the site, and RJ says that the site will get a few adjustments to reflect the new branding. He also pledged that the iOS Update of their app should hit iTunes soon, while the Android version of the app is now full featured, and has all the functionality of the main website. Future changes that will come soon according to RJ includes a more responsive website, better customer service and better screening of items posted on the website.
