A Round of Applause for the LTO

It’s not often that we sing praises about the Land Transportation Office but, when they do get things right, we have to give credit where credit is due; a bit of encouragement could go along way as well.

A photo posted by one of the country’s top motoring journalists, James Deakin, recently caught our eye. It was a subpoena from the LTO, with the name rightfully redacted, concerning an individual who had bragged about speeding on his or her Facebook account.

Apparently, whoever this subpoena was addressed to said that they were going well above the legal speed limit, 190kph to be exact. When or when they were able to accomplish such speeds is a little beyond us; given that we’re mostly seeing a sea of red lights in Metro Manila. But, we digress.

The LTO summoned the violator where they have been asked to show cause so that they can keep their Driver’s License.

Let this be a lesson to all of you. If you do find yourself driving faster than what the law allows, maybe don’t brag about it on social media and be, what Mr. Deakin calls, a world-class idiot. More importantly, just obey the rules of the road. It’s just safer for everybody.
