It’s Going to be a Sad Christmas for Angkas and its Riders

The ride-sharing service is slated to cut more than half of its riders

Christmas is just a few days away, but it is not going to be a happy one for most Angkas riders.

In a Facebook post, Angkas said that around 17,000 of its riders will lose their jobs next year despite LTFRB extending the operation of Motorcycle Taxis and adding two new players for 2020.

In its statement, LTFRB mandated that Angkas can only maintain up to 10,000 riders. To date, it has around 27,000 riders.

Bakit kailangang bawasan at tangalan ng trabaho ang mga bikers natin? Bakit kailangang parusahan ang mga bikers na nakapag-training at napatunayan na ang galing sa daan?” Angkas said in its statement.

While new players JoyRide and Move It are set to join Angkas for the Extended Pilot Implementation, little is known about both Motorcycle Taxi services.
