New York Had An On-Demand Toilet Service ala Uber

When You’ve Got to Go, You’ve Got to Go!

This post may sound something you would normally see on Camille’s usual Viral Friday posts, but it’s too good not to share. A few days back, Charmin — a toilet paper company — had a brilliant idea to market their product while providing a much needed solution to a problem in New York City: a clean place to “sit on the throne and conduct business”.  The cool thing here is, people in the NYC didn’t even have to go hunting for these toilets, it came to you.

This is Van-GO; Charmin’s On-Demand Private Restroom.

Similar to ride-sharing apps like Uber and Grab, people could hail the Van-GO by logging on to their website and coordinate a pickup point for you and the driver for the potty-on-wheels. Once it arrived, you are treated to a pristine bathroom experience; something that’s apparently hard to come by in the city that never sleeps.

The service was only available for two days, from June 21 to 22, and only serviced select areas of the city. Say what you want about this marketing gimmick, but we think it was pretty brilliant.
