This LGU will be using Uber and Grab for its Personnel’s Transportation Services

It’s an experiment to save on taxpayer’s money

We are all tired of the LTFRB being hell-bent on filing charges against Grab and Uber. We are also tired of how stubborn they are in defending taxis, no matter how horrible their services can be. However, in Cebu, it is a whole different story. In fact, Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmena does think that Uber and Grab can be beneficial for its constituents. In his Facebook post, Mayor Osmena wants to experiment with using Uber’s system to track government personnel.

His rationale, you may ask? For their personnel to effectively do their jobs, and to save money from “ghost” expenses: “sick” drivers, “missing” spare parts, “missing” fuel, you name it. It is also Mayor Osmena’s way of preventing government employees to use government vehicles for leisure activities. Should Mayor Osmena’s experiment be successful, this should be a good reason for LTFRB to be convinced that Grab and Uber are good for our society, contrary to what they believe.
