Viral Fridays: Turkish Company Builds a Real-Life Transformer Car

Welcome to Unbox’s “Viral Fridays” where we feature weirder than usual tech and geek related news to cap out the week.

Indeed, we’re talking about them “robots in disguise”, those Transformers. A Turkish company called Letvision has built a legitimate transforming vehicle which they’ve branded as a “Letron”. Even Gizmodo isn’t 100% sure (they’re leaning on the affirmative though) on the validity of these videos, so we’ll let your eyes judge the exhibitions.

Looks pretty legit to us! Sure, this prototype Letron can’t walk yet, nor isn’t as fancy in transformation as the actual Transformers robots, but this is as close as it gets, at least for now. The Letron can transform all by itself, is remotely operated, and can be driven while in standard vehicle mode. Damn, that’s good enough for us Transformers fans! Imagine going through a drive-thru with that vehicle and the attendant getting your “diet drink” wrong: “Autobots, transform and roll out!”

We at Unbox await the day when our glorious Cybertronian overlords (crash)land on Earth and show us a thing or two about “real transforming.” For now, a Letron will do. Now where to get the money to actually buy one… is the true sadness.

No word on how much a Letron will cost, or when (or if) Letvision will be opening orders for them. Check out more details at the Official Letron Website.
