Lollipop is coming!

When Lollipop was announced earlier this month, Google did not give a solid time frame when it’ll be hitting devices, specifically their existing Nexus lineup. Google’s Nexus 4, 5 and 7 are first in line to get the update (the newly announced 6 and 9 already have Lollipop in them) on November 3, according to Google. The company sent a tweet reminding developers to test their apps on for compatability to the new OS before it is released to the general public on November 3.

Google’s Nexus line of devices has always had first dibs whenever Google pushed out a major Android update, and Lollipop is no exception. Like before you can expect the update to come in phases, as even though you have a Nexus device, it’s not guaranteed that you will get the update on the exact date.

Why should you get excited for Lollipop? Well, the new Android version brings a ton of new features, as well as a whole new look to the OS via Google’s Material Design mantra. There’s a ton of new changes in the OS (over 5,000 new APIs) which promises to bring better battery life, more control over your phone as well as an overall smoother user experience. You can check out the top 5 Lollipop features we’re excited for here, as well as the official Lollipop announcement here.
