Come on Asus, release this in the PH already

Asus’ Mobile Facebook page has announced that the company has officially made the ZenFone available in several countries in Southeast Asia, which includes the Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam. Conspicuously missing from the list of countries included in the launch is the good ol’ Philippines, which has been anticipating the arrival of Asus’ affordable phones since they were announced in CES.

ZenFone 4 Specs

  • Intel Atom Z2520 (1.2 GHz)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB of storage, expandable via microSD
  • 4-inch TFT LED Backlight, 800 x 480 pixels
  • 5megapixel main camera
  • VGA front camera
  • 1200 mAh removable polymer battery
  • Android 4.3 ( will update to 4.4 KitKat ) with ASUS ZenUI

According to CNET, the cheapest ZenFone, the ZenFone 4, retails for only 1,099,000 Indonesian Rupiah, which works out to roughly $95 or Php 4230 converted. At those prices, the ZenFone 4 has the potential to upset the local smartphone market. Even if you consider our absurdly high tax on anything electronic, the ZenFone still has the potential to be relatively affordable even when compared to other local brands. Let’s just hope that the company starts selling it here in the Philippines – after all, their loyal fans are not going to wait forever for their new phones.
