RECAP: HTC Massive One-Day Sale Last December 18
HTC Philippines staged a massive one-day sale to launch their Windows Phone offerings, the HTC 8X and HTC 8S, yesterday, December 18, at the HTC Concept Store in SM North Edsa. The first 128 customers who would get either phones received major discounts. The HTC 8S, priced at Php14,600, could be availed at just Php9,988. THe HTC 8X, which usually sells for Php26,500, was available for just Php19,988. We couldn’t resist the huge discount so we ended up going to SM North Edsa to line-up for the HTC 8X, lol. Read below for a quick recap of our experience.
Line started as early as 10:00AM
According to the e-poster on the HTC PH Facebook Page, the concept store would start selling the discounted units at 12 noon. We were there around 11AM and there was already a long line forming. When we asked the saleslady if we made the 128 cut-off she told us that we were number 46.
I was prepared to wait around 2 hours to get the phone. Based on dirty math, the Php4,600 discount would equate to around 38 pesos savings per minute I stood waiting if I was there for two hours, lol. Pwede na! I was actually hoping to get the phone earlier but it turns out my estimate was accurate. The store started selling around 12:15 and I was able to get the unit at around 1:50PM. The HTC 8X also came with a free HTC-branded jacket.
So was it worth the 2-hour wait? Well we’ll have to put the phone through the paces first. Watch out for our unboxing and full review in the next few days.
Other stuff on sale
Other than the HTC 8X and 8S, they also did a quick sale on their Android handsets. Just check out the photo above for the pricing scheme.
If anybody from HTC Philippines is reading this let me just say “thank you” for the great deal on the HTC 8X! As a suggestion though you might want to increase the number of people serving in the counter (accept payments) when you do sales like this one. It really took quite a while to be able to get the phone. Medyo hassle. 😛
Anyway, watch out for our unboxing and review of the HTC 8X Windows Phone soon!
