Globe and Smart to battle it out again with the iPhone 5?

If you read between the lines of the recent tweets of the official Twitter accounts of telco rivals Smart and Globe, it looks like they’re both going to offer the iPhone 5 when it launches later this month. Smart retweeted iPhone 5 related tweets from Endgadget while Globe is doing their own tweets as well. When we asked Smart’s Louie Ang about the iPhone 5 he also gave us an “interesting” reply, hehe. See the tweets below. Yugatech also posted that they spotted Globe Nano SIMS out in the open already.

When the iPhone 4S was launched locally last year it was a marketing battle of epic proportions between the two telcos. Smart went as far as closing down the entire Power Plant Mall at Rockwell. Globe also brought in an international DJ act for their launch party.
