Is this Xiaomi’s successor to their Redmi 1S?

Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S has proven to be a bestseller in the PH, and apparently a successor to the company’s most affordable smartphone is on the way. Chinese certification company TENAA has posted what seems to be images of Xiaomi’s successor to the Redmi 1S, the Redmi 2S.

The new smartphone will come with a 64-bit, Snapdragon 410 processor though now it’s running at a more sedate speed of 1.2GHz, instead of the 1.6GHz on the original. The processor is paired with 1GB of RAM, and the phone has 8GB of storage. An 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera still adorns the rear and front, and Xiaomi has bumped the battery capacity ever so slightly, up to 2,200mAh.

The phone will be a bit more compact (9.2mm thickness versus 9.9) and will still retain the 4.7-inch HD display. The phone will have LTE by default, but TENAA indicates that the device will be single SIM only.

No launch date so far, but we’re sure that the device will launch in the next few weeks.
